In Fall 2018, the College of Engineering Technology formally opened its newly renovated Swan Building Annex and launched its new Center for Welding Excellence and Center for Advanced Manufacturing, expanding opportunities for students and the industry partners who hire them.
The annex will allow for substantial enrollment growth, transforming instructional lab space to double its original size, and has significantly enhanced instructional resources in manufacturing-related programs such as Welding Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, CAD Drafting and Tool Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Plastics and Rubber.
The $31.6-million project is funded by a university investment of $1.6 million in the planning and rendering phase, $22.5 million in state appropriations and $7.5 million in resources being raised through Ferris’ partnerships with industry, foundations, alumni and friends who recognize and benefit from these distinctive and impactful programs.
